What are Botox® and fillers?
Botox and fillers are cosmetic injectables that soften lines and wrinkles and plump your skin to create a more youthful look.
Botox and Dysport® are neuromodulators made from a purified form of botulinum toxin. The cosmetic treats fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily easing muscle movements in areas of your face. The muscle movements etch lines into your face when you make expressions, such as frowning or smiling.
The fillers offered at Chestnut Wellness contain hyaluronic acid, a compound your body produces a lot of in your youth. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and plumps your skin to smooth lines and wrinkles.
Why would I use Botox and fillers?
Botox and Dysport are most often used to smooth forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet around the eyes. Off label use includes treatment for a cobbly chin and vertical neck cords. Your provider determines which formula is best for your needs.
Fillers work on static wrinkles, especially in the cheeks and around the mouth. They also fill in hollowed areas, like sunken cheeks or thinning lips.
Dr. Blatchford recommends fillers to:
- Erase deep creases and folds, such as those that run from the nose to the mouth
- Reduce the appearance of smoker’s lines around the mouth
- Plump the lips
- Restore lost volume in the cheeks, chin, and temples

Juvéderm®
